January recap

Tina and me at Olde Ship, celebrating her last day on the job :)

And so, we're into a new year and a new time to live life. The first month of the new year is over with, and I'm happy to say that it was lived.

I went to Regency Lido early in the month with a friend. The Regency Lido is located in Newport Beach and is a fantastic old theater that features artsy films. The last time I was there was 1998 when on a date. So, needless to say, it was time to go back! I went with a female friend this time though. We stopped first of all at The Mad Greek in Stanton for lunch and then took PCH down to the theater. We saw "The Artist," which I'm now glad of so that I can legitemately have an opinion about a movie nominated for an Academy Award!

I also went out with friends to The Olde Ship, an English pub. Tina, a Facebook friend of mine, wanted to celebrate her last day on the job. I've theoretically known Tina since kindergarten, but she moved when we were 16 and I've only run into her every so often through the years. It was nice to see her and her boyfriend and others who I went to high school with. I hadn't been to that pub before, even though I live in the same city as it. It's a nice place!

I also tried out a new church at the end of the month-The Cause Community Church. Wow is all I can say. The pastor's message blew me away! I'll attend again to see if this church is a good fit for me.

I'm getting my weight under control also once again. It blows to have see-sawing weight issues. What matters though is that I'm working on getting it under control.

And so, I move on to February. I hope it's a month of love in many different forms.

Kindergarten friends and other life tales

I've got another week of riveting tales to tell you! I bet you're all waiting with baited breath! :)

Facebook has connected me with many people from my past, including the person I'm pictured with below. Tina and I met in kindergarten and reconnected via Facebook. She wanted to get together with some people at The Olde Ship, a British pub and restaurant that's nearby, so I joined her and a few friends that evening. I had never been to The Olde Ship before. It's a nice place and it was great to see Tina. (I wasn't feeling so hot that day and had just had a facial done the day before. Reminder: wear makeup always for pictures!)

I think I'm imitating Nora Griffin here by getting excited about wrapping presents. This one is for my cousin and her hubby who are expecting a boy on St. Patty's Day. I got her 2 children's books from her registry at Target and remarked to myself that I had plenty of Christmas wrapping paper but none for baby gifts. How weird is that???

This obviously isn't the tightest wrapping of ribbon that I could do, but I like it. I also included one of my handmade tags for a cute touch.

And so, that's my exciting week. Fun stuff, huh?

Occupy Orange County comes to Fullerton

Yes, you read that right. Poor, news saturated Fullerton  is now going to unwittingly host the Occupy movement. (I live here, so trust me, I know. Kelly Thomas last year and now, Occupy! What next?) Fullerton has anti-camping laws, so this should be interesting. Here are some pictures that I took of the protest at city hall this morning:

From across the street. Not many people........

There will apparently be an Occupy General Assembly tonight. I'll skip it, thank you very much.... :)

When this guy saw my camera, he immediately grabbed his sign and smiled! LOL!
And the pictures don't deceive. There aren't many people there.

Regency Lido with a mysterious friend :)

Since yesterday was a day off for me, I wanted to do something fun. A friend of mine, who shall remain nameless due to playing hooky from work, :) went with me on an adventure down to Lido Island in Newport Beach.

We started off first of all having lunch  at the Mad Greek in Stanton. I've been there before and taken pictures, but can't find them right now. Then we took PCH down to Lido Island. to see a movie. I'd been to the Regency Lido once before on a date EEONS ago and remembered how fantastic this place was, so I wanted to try it again. My hooky from work friend was happy to go along with me. :)

The Regency Lido is an old theater in Newport Beach that is just really cool. They even give mints as you walk out of the theater.

I also just love the detail on the outside sconces.

This theater was obviously restored. I'm thinking the '90s by looking at the ceiling tile things.

A box office that is just so old-fashioned. I loved it!

An old clock by the theater. Oh heck, it was nearby, cute and well kept, therefore I liked it.

More outside detail of the theater that I just loved. This must look cool at night.

The theater has a mural painted on each wall. It was at this point that said mysterious friend told me to stop lookin' as if I just came off the farm and put the camera down. :)

I just could not get over the women's restroom parlor! They had hair spray at every station along with freshly cut roses! Hair spray! (It's the little things for me. :) )

And so, yesterday was nice. I hope to do more fun stuff this year.

FIND

 Happy New Year!

Ali Edwards has a one-word prompt for each year. I always thought, yeah, nice idea, but who needs something like that?

I liked the idea last year. It took me a few days into the new year, but I, too, came up with my one little word-ACHIEVE. I smiled as I went through last year's posts and came upon the post that mentioned this word. I probably didn't know what I wanted to achieve, except to maybe get a title job that didn't have me getting laid off every few months, which is common in the escrow and title world. I did achieve last year though.

And so, I thought about what my one-word prompt will be for 2012. FIND. I went back and forth between SEEK and FIND, but find stuck out to me more, even though we seek before we find. So, find it is! Maybe I need to find what I seek?

I'd like to find a lot this year. Here's to the search!
