Great Park, dessert and progress

This week could be summed up by calling it old newness. We bring in the new with the old by inaugurating the president once again. We live our old lives in a new way.

So I began this week going to Great Park. I had never been before and wanted to see what everyone was raving about. Eh. It's a nice idea, but was kind of disappointing. Great Park is an old military base that is supposed to be a huge park. It's not completed yet, so to me is kind of disappointing. Even the big balloon doesn't take that many people. I wanted to go up in it, but they filled up by the time I got there.

More work happened this week along with more applying for other jobs. I had 2 phone interview this week! One was for a marketing coordinator position for a medical equipment company. The other was also a marketing position for an architecture firm. I was already informed that I didn't get the one at the medical equipment company. We'll see how the other one works out.

My church also held the dinner to break our prayer fast and I'm happy to say that I didn't overdo it. Yes, I also finally read said blog. LOL. I realized some things this month. The first being that there are some people in my life that I can't handle and need to rid myself of them. I also figured out a health problem, so woohoo to me. :)

Weight Watchers online is also humming along. I lost 2 pounds this week. It shocked me that it wasn't more, considering that the first week of any weight loss program is always the time I lose the most. Ah well, at least I lost something...

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Until next week!

Hoooo boy!

This past week began with a bang. Car wise, that is....

The car issue reared it's ugly head this week. My 10-year-old car is now having issues. I guess it's time to start saving for a new one. :( The new radiator I had to get this past week got me thinking of that.

I had a fairly busy week this week with upping my freelancing and applying for better paying jobs. I buffed and polished my resume and sent them out. I also continued with my freelancing and also social media promoting.

My church also held the prayer and worship night again this week. I can actually read said blog next week. :) (Honestly though, I don't miss it.) Next week is a dinner to celebrate the end of this prayer and fast time. It's potluck, so I get to bring dessert. :)

I also decided to take on a monumental task of clearing out my 21,000+ emails. I'm still going and had a ton of junk. I've already weeded through 15,000+ emails. Thank goodness for unlimited space!

I also hit the point of being ready to get this weight off me and signed up for Weight Watchers online. I'm now hypoglycemic and realize that I need to control what I eat better so that I don't feel like I'm going to nap at noon for no reason.

And so, another boring week for me. Stay tuned for exciting details of next week! ;)

An uneventful week....

How did the first week of everyone's new year go? Mine had its up and down moments. Forward motion was the main theme of the week though, which is important.

I was also happy to learn that I know 5 couples who are going to be parents this year! Wow! The last time I had a lot of pregnant people around me was 2005. This will be a blessed time-until August when the fun stops. :)

My church did the same prayer and worship night again this week. They're going a little extreme, in my opinion, about the fasting. They've had awesome results in past years with their prayer and fasting times-including a couple on the brink of divorce getting back together again. My version of fasting is not reading certain blogs for a few weeks. ;) I'm realizing a few things during this time. I knew what I wanted to pray for, but it's funny in that I'm seeing that I need to get other areas in order to have that.

I've been seriously working on my Etsy page here. Check it out if you need something! I've also been realizing how I need to market it. This will be a good learning lesson for me. I've also been working on a Facebook page I have for some freelance writing. I'm realizing the key to a good page is that you have to keep up with it daily.

I did ask the endocrinologist at UCLA if he knew of an endocrinologist in Orange County that I could see. He referred me to someone in Orange, and I made that appointment. I get in next month....

And so, my week hasn't been eventful in the slightest. Hopefully next week is better.

When it rains, it pours....

Happy New Year, all! It's time to begin a new year filled with promise and possibility. Newness is great. And then, there's my life....

I'd rather forget this past week, thankyouverymuch. It wasn't fun, to put it mildly!

The first fun event was with my health insurance company. I'm on an expensive insurance plan due to some health issues and decided to apply for a cheaper one with the same company. After all, Obamacare will now become law so they have to accept me, right?? WRONG! (Open enrollment is in October. THEN they have to accept you.) To get down to the bare bones of it, I had to file an appeal with the company and prayed to not be left uninsured before Obamacare open enrollment. :Needless to say, my appeal was granted. Amazing and a bunch of BS all in one.

And then, my brakes decided to not function properly one day and a car hose decided to go bad. (!!!!!) I learned from the episode with my parents and took matters into my own hands here. It's not that I'm not grateful for them or trying to be a bitch, but they don't seem to understand that if I say no, that it's not a debate. LOL. I fortunately have friends who are car handy and assured me that it wasn't my radiator and told me to throw distilled water in before driving the car to get it fixed.

And then, the new year began. I found it funny that Robyn asked me if I was going to do my usual new year's cleaning! (She stayed with me for 2 days this past year. She knows! LOL) I guess it really is my tradition! Yeah, I did.... I was broke this year. ;) I just hope it doesn't take me 2 weeks this time to get everything cleaned up.

I also decided to embark on an exercise plan this year. The city I live in has a lot of hiking trails. I want to hit every single one of them this year. The first trail I hit was on New Year's Day-a Panoramic Trail which has views to LA on a good day.

I also got to thinking about goals for the coming year. I of course need to lose weight. I need to take up an exercise habit. I also need to get a better paying job that doesn't have me worried about my health insurance!  My wants include working on getting a creative side business going. I used to do craft shows all the time before the economy took a dive and want to do that again. I really feel that I can do more with this. I also want to be more involved with life.

Going along with figuring out what you want in the new year, my church is doing prayer and worship nights once a week this month. This will include somewhat of a fasting time. Fasting can even mean fasting from the internet for the month. I've decided to not get on a Web site for the month. Four days down, 17 to go.....

I also got my hair did yesterday! I decided to go a little bit darker and got this.

Almost my natural color again! ;)

I look forward to this new year and pray it's not filled with medical experiences again but instead with joy, happiness and life.

Have a great week, all! Until next week!
