Books n' birthdays...

As you can see, I have pictures this week. :) I haven't succumbed to joining Instagram-yet-otherwise you'd know every detail about every day. :)

This past weekend was disappointing. Not in the usual sense, but more disappointed in people than anything-namely some family members who didn't visit my mom for her 75th birthday this past Sunday. I won't go on about this, but some people simply need to grow up and realize that life isn't always about fun.

I've always wanted to make birthday candles like someone's age. Lol

Don't ask what Mom's wearing....

My gift to Mom. I loved the coloring !

I've been getting into this series!

I'll admit that these are well written. I'm on the third book in the series now, so all that sex is getting boring. ;)

More than that though, I'm loving this weather! Spring is in the air, which I love! Everyone's mood lightens and things in general seem brighter. Yay for Spring! :)

I hope you all had a fantastic week and continue on with this wonderful trend. ;) Until next week!

Time marches on

My week started off incredibly weird, by my standards. I was sick on Sunday. By that I mean literally could not get out of bed for more than 20 minutes, throwing up, etc. I felt better by the end of the day, but still...What a waste of a day!

And then, I started jury duty on Monday. I was debating what to do on Sunday if I felt the same way the next day. I probably would have just rescheduled jury duty, but I seriously don't believe in all the time I've been called for jury duty that I've ever had to do that. My tryout for a reporting job was the next day, so I did call the jury service office to see if I could reschedule. Oh, the court is closed for Lincoln's birthday, you say? Our county has a call in jury system anyway, and I got to go in Monday. Just my luck that I got in a jury pool  for a 10-day trial. :( I had to laugh when my mother and I spoke after my dad's cataract surgery  and she yelled at me for getting assigned to the jury pool for the trial! Ummm, what?? Fortunately I didn't get picked for the jury.

My dad had cataracts surgery on Tuesday. I didn't have the fun job of taking him early, just as I did with my mom. His was bad in one eye, so bad that he really shouldn't have been driving up until the surgery. I guess it was so bad that it was a difficult surgery for the doctor. He's had a lot of complications, which included the surgeon having to stick a needle in his eye to relieve pressure multiple times a day. My tryout for the reporting job was also that day. I think I knocked it out of the ball park. We'll see though. What I liked about this tryout was that you could do it at home and email it in to them.

I missed church on Wednesday because I went to see my dad.I'm sure God understands. :)

And of course we had the crazy ex-cop shootout here in Southern California. Friends live by where this occurred and said it was amazing (to put it nicely) how many sirens they heard when this was going on. It's never dull out here!

And that's my week in a nutshell! I hope to have pictures in next week's post!

manhunts and spiritual warfare-welcome to California!

What a week here in Southern California! A police officer who was fired from the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) shot and killed a couple in South Orange County. Many crazy things ensued after that, including the gunman shooting police officers, which lead to a huge manhunt with many different police agencies searching for this guy. I can personally say that they day the manhunt began I saw the police in one city doubled up in cars, doing patrol with their partners. The former cop hadn't been found as of this morning.

I'll admit that personally, this has been a boring week for me. Boring with a capital B! I'll be happy when next week rolls around. Not only because it's new, but also because I have a tryout for a reporting position! As my dad asked, "Does it pay decently?" :)

My class at church continued on. We actually moved it to a decently sized room this week. Yay. :) This week's studying will be on spiritual warfare. Interesting.

We also had hail here today! Twice! Those things excite me! Lol.

And so, that's my week. Hope you all had a more exciting one!

20 years, Norton Simon and other stuff...

So a Facebook page has been put up for my 20-year high school reunion. After realizing that 20 years went by in a flash, I kinda freaked out. Many of my Facebook friends in my class did the same, so I know I'm not alone. :)

And then, I went to Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Last time I went was in college when I had to go for an Art class assignment. It was incredibly crowded, rainy and just plain stinky out. They even closed down the sculpture garden due to the rain. I wanted to see that, so I wasn't too thrilled that day in general. I saw the Tournament of Roses house though. Does that make it all okay? :)

The Tournament of Roses house.

I also started a class at my church that I think I'll really like. Did they ever pack us into the Sunday School room though! I'm starting out slowly to get back into things and figure church is a good place to begin again-being there twice a week right now. This church is also genuinely real, which is pretty uncommon to me. Talking to the head pastor this week showed me that.

As for weight, I'm up a pound this week. Back at it!

And realizations also came over me after I was kind to someone and they, um, weren't. Some people ya gotta just let go. It might help to not let out a barrage of insults either, but ya gotta let 'em go.

But happy February! May we all be nicer this month. :)
