He loved it and other tales from my week....

For those of you wondering, my friend's stepson loved the toy gun. That kid couldn't have thanked me more even if he tried! And of course my friend didn't care. She said he loves guns.

Its been a good week so far! I went to a travelling museum at Tri-City Park in Placentia. It was called "The Wall That Heals," which was a replica of the wall at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington, DC. This exhibit also had a trailer that had museum quality displays of artifacts people have left at the wall in DC through the years. Very touching.

The battlefield cross

The replica wall at the exhibit; 280 feet and shaped like a chevron

A sea of flags leading up to the exhibit

Museum exhibit in a trailer; very cool exhibit of things people have left at the wall through the years
One of my cousins also had her baby on St. Patrick's Day! She'd probably kill me if I showed the world the picture of her looking stoned after her C-section (This kid was almost 10 pounds! In no way could she have had him naturally.), so I'll show you this cute one.

Awwww! :) One of my cousins joked though that her brother-in-law had to use adult sized sheets to swaddle him. ;)

It's funny how the day after the little guy's birth I got a call from an old friend letting me know about her mom's passing. To everything there is a season. My friend's mom had not been in the best of health these past few years (to put it mildly), so at least she's with God.

I hope you all had an equally good week!

Warning: Gun Haterz, don't read this post!

This, dear readers, is a gun.

I mean, I know, it's not a real one. It's a Star Wars General Grievous BLASTER! It fires projectiles! So that makes it cooler than a real gun. ;)

A friend of well over 10 years is now a step-mom. Her step-son is turning 7 tomorrow and she invited me to the family party they're holding for him. I swear it was karma when I was on the phone with her at Toys R Us asking what the kid likes. The Star Wars aisle was right in front of me as she told me that if it's Star Wars, he'll like it. She said he loves figurines and will play with them non-stop. Would you believe 1 of them was as much as this beautiful gun?! The gun was on sale, so that's what the kid's getting tomorrow.

Now I know what some of you are thinking. Why don't you ask if your friend is okay with you getting her kid a toy gun? Will your friend kill you when she sees the toy gun? Does your friend believe violence is bad? Will she throw this thing out after you leave?

My answer? No, she's not against boys being boys and playing with guns. She may be royally pissed when he's shooting things in the house (which I didn't think of-woops) or the dogs though. But that's easily taken care of. And I will kill her if she throws this out.

I see nothing wrong with getting a kid a toy gun. I think we as a society need to think about how we're raising our boys if we're restricting them from being boys. Playing with toy guns is fine by me!

And lookie how I wrapped said gun. ;)  I invested in another roll of wrapping paper so I can actually prove to the world that I wrap presents more often than just Christmas. ;) I didn't feel like making another tag for the kid, so I found a random one to use. The damn thing doesn't match and I don't care. Nope. Not at all.

Guns look pretty wrapped, don't they? ;)

I guess it's Spring time...

It must be Spring time here in Southern California because the tulips are growing. Big, honkin' tulips!

A retired Biology teacher in the city I live in decks his house out every Spring with tulips. The local newspaper always quotes him as saying that he plants over 2,000 bulbs every year. It didn't look like he had that many in his front yard, but it doesn't matter. It looks gorgeous no matter how many are there.

I've been meaning to go every year to see these tulips and finally went recently to see them. These things are HUGE-and very pretty. Seriously, I never knew that tulips could get so big!

I like Spring and the many colors it brings to the world-including the colors I saw in this person's front yard.
