I've thought about this word lately due to some personal things I have going on right now. Brightness is positive. It's life affirming. It's hopeful. This picture embodies brightness (and is also appropriate for the upcoming holiday), life and hope.

The brightness is slowly coming back. It's not a long road back, thank goodness. The colors are bold. The colors are strong.

 May they stay that way.

Being diagnosed with Celiac was my body's way of telling me that enough was enough with all the carbs I was having. As a result, I've been having more salads. And whadya know? They're pretty good. :)

I've been trying different veggies, such as olives, and am liking it. I'm also trying salads with different meats in it. I'd normally fall over in shock from not having a ton of carbs in my diet, but have managed to live thus far eating more veggies. ;)

Here's to creating positive, lasting healthy eating changes!

Who needs to make a card? Not me!

I just discovered the crafting challenges posted here. I like the ideas and even thought about making this week's card challenge. Who needs a travel card though? No one I know!

Because of that, I was curious to see if I had ever made any cards that somewhat matched this design. I certainly don't need to make another card ever again if you saw my basket filled with cards I've made through the years. So, I searched through the basket and found these cards. What do you think? Does my creative mind need a dose of reality? :)

Weather love

Hooray for good weather! Bring it on, summer!

Hell hasn't frozen over, but a teenager respects my opinion!

I'm at the age where a few friends have teenagers. One of those kids will graduate from high school in a few weeks, which shocks the hell out of me. I'm really that old?!

The others kids though are in junior high and newly into high school. They're polite, because I'm like an aunt to them, but they're kids if you know what I mean. One of them shocked me a few weeks ago though when she asked my opinion about her poetry!

My friend had her 15-year-old connect with a few adults on Facebook when she signed up, including yours truly. She sent me a message on there a few nights ago asking for a critique of some poetry she wrote.

Of course I was touched and complimented her on it, because it was good. And I was shocked that this sweet girl asked my opinion! I saw song lyrics in there though and wanted to tell her about copyright infringement, but I knew that would go over her head. It's good poetry, keep it up kiddo, I said.

She was thrilled. Score one for me!

Hell hasn't frozen over, I guess. Some kids do respect my opinion.

An unmorbid post!

Life actually does exist besides going to the doctor's! Here's some of the stuff I've been up to these past few weeks:

(Not the most flattering picture of me, but it'll do.) Jen was my best friend in 6th and 7th grade before her family moved to Colorado. We reconnected a few years ago via Facebook and saw her for the first time in 24 years recently when she came up to see family. It was fun to chat with her!

Now this dog was hilarious. I babysat my friends Boxer recently. Junie was smart and hilarious to boot. And God help you if you didn't take her walking when she wanted to go!

Another lousy pic.... I went to see Ron Paul speak at the university down the street from me. It was cool to hear him speak even though I don't agree with everything he stands for.

And so, here's proof that I get out of the house and doctor's office occasionally. Wahoo!

Happy nice day.....

Yay! Let's hear it for trees in bloom and sunny days! I love this time of year!

GASP! Could it be??

Could it really be that the sun is breaking through this gloomy, crappy weather we've been having lately?! Dear God, I hope so!

April recap

April is what I'd like to refer to as the doctor/test month. I found my breast issue and had 4 medical appointments about this. Fun stuff! The breast surgeon wanted to assure me that this is probably not cancerous, even though eventually I will need a biopsy.

I also saw an old friend this month. I mean old friend. I hadn't seen Jennifer in 24 years before she ventured up my direction one day. It was nice to see her and chat with her.

I also participated more in community events. I hid a few eggs for a community adult Easter egg hunt. I had one egg that I hid being searched for a few hours. Dang! That's pretty good! :)

I also dogsat a cute Boxer. Junie was a funny dog who loved walks and would do a funny thing to get her tummy rubbed-she'd play dead! She was funny to watch, as she was the most lax dog ever.

Here's to the sun shining in April and light coming in where darkness stood for a time.

The one about my lack of cable

I have a confession to make.

I don't have cable.

SHOCK! I bet you were thinking it had to do with illegitemate kids or something from when I was thinner. HAH! I don't have cable.

I just don't watch TV. It's not a necessity in my book to have cable and have survived without it for a long time. And then, I watched my friends TV......

I realized what I was missing this past weekend while dogsitting. Before I took the dog back to my place, I sat and watched my friends wonderful cable!

Wow! What the hell am I missing? There was Undercover Boss (which is a cool show), Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and on and on. I sat there for a good few hours watching TV. The dog played with its toys and I caught up on my TV watching as I sunk into their sofa.

I need a flat screen TV first though. ;)

Boobs and Boxers

I went to the breast surgeon appointment the other day. I really liked her and thought she was good. I'll be seeing her quite a bit in the near future!

The ultrasound came back with some "fun" stuff. Purportedly benign, but still scary. My next step is to get a mammogram and MRI to determine for certain what they found in the ultrasound. I also had to get bloodwork, because my body possibly thinks it's pregnant!

("Yay! I finally get a shower! It's about damn time someone thought of me for a change!" I joked to a friend over the phone.)

I'll admit that I got a little freaked out over the weekend when dogsitting my friends Boxer. She's a sweet dog who loved to sit with me as I watched TV. She actually sniffed the breast I'm having issues with. Whoa.  She didn't sniff the other one. Talk about freaky!

In the end, the surgeon may have to remove some of my ducts to biopsy them. There's a small chance that what's inside may come back cancerous. If it does though, it's very early stage.

Now where should I register for my shower? ;)
